On our Humantay Lake Tour from Cusco you will have opportunity to appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the Peruvian Mountains and experience the exotic flora and fauna of Humantay Lake on a full-day hiking and cycling tour. Marvel at one of Peru’s most beautiful turquoise lakes, as you travel through the valleys and mountains sacred to the Incas, enjoying stunning views of the nearby snow-covered glaciers.

On this tour you can hiking and cycling to high elevations. You should come prepared with proper equipment. Training before the tour is advised. Please do not leave any required equipment at home. Guiding Peru’s Humantay Lake Hike and Mountain Bike Tour is an action-packed full day of traveling through the beautiful highlands of Peru into the lush valley of the Apurimac River.
We pick you up from your Cusco hotel at 4:30am, driving for 2 hours to the small Andean village of Mollepata to enjoy a delicious hot breakfast. Following our nourishing meal will will continue in our private van transport for 1 more hour until Soraypampa, located at 3900m. Here is where our guide will lead you on your 2 hour hike to the turquoise waters of Humantay Lake, located at 4300m. This is the location of one of the most stunning places in the Cusco Region of Peru. Humantay Lake is yours to explore for the next hour, allowing for amazing photos of it’s turquoise waters laying against the backdrop of the snow-covered peaks of Humantay Glacier.
We will then make our way back down the mountain, hiking for 1.5 hours to Soraypampa, where after a snack, you will put on your safety equipment and board your mountain bikes for the downhill 2 hour ride to Mollepata. In the early afternoon we will arrive to Mollepata and enjoy a delicious chef-prepared lunch. After lunch we depart back to Cusco in our private van transport, arriving back to your hotel around 6:30 p.m.

When to Travel
- High Season (June – August): Dry season in the Andean highlands. Best time for dry conditions for hiking in the Sacred Valley and on Inca Trail.
- Shoulder Season (September-November and March-May): Occasional rain storms Trails are less crowded, making for ideal visits with more solitude.
- Low Season (December to February): Rainy season. Expect persistent daily rains.
The Inca Trail is closed in February for trail maintenance and campsite clean up.
